Both the individual pieces and the collective spirit of the whole seem to owe much to the work of that man Tak, Toyama's second album at times seeming like a genuine genuflection at the altar of Takemura. Across eleven largely-short pieces given quaint English-titles like Hello Porno, Hello Kettle, and Hello Tuner, Toyama births various forms of playful soundtracking from mostly keyboards and computer-effects (with violin making notable graceful appearances). There's numerous pieces that play with playful carnivale-like parades of giddy and grotesque blips and blitters, several turns of stately piano-centric yearning, and, then, many moments that move through intensely-focused collages of various clicks, drips, gear-shudders, hand-percussion daubs, and patch'd-out effects. Notably, there's even a song called Hello Nancy that finds Toyama dialling in the vocal help of an unnamed contibutor who plays the role of surrogate-Aki-Tsuyuko, la-la-la-ing her way through a nattily-dressed track that commences with nothing but her singing, before escalating in dangerously dandy measures through a tune wound up with piano, piano-accordion, modular-synth, bass, violin, tuba, and saxophone.
