In this Cd the band ║ │ │║ blunts with a great traditional hard/heavy-metal ║ │ │║ of the eighties. Highlight for John Bush's ║ │ │║ spectacular performance. Extraordinary for any ║ │ │║ heavy-metal collector. ║ │ │║ ║ │ │║ Armored Saint is a much overlooked band that has ║ │ │║ some great material. This is their debut full ║ │ │║ length CD and has some true metal classics like ║ │ │║ "Can U Deliver." If you dig bands like Maiden, ║ │ │║ Priest, Dio, and Saxon, do yourself a favor and ║ │ │║ get Armored Saint's stuff. They deliver killer ║ │ │║ metal tunes and never cheese out like many other ║ │ │║ bands did. Hard driving guitar with killer hooks ║ │ │║ and vengeful lyrics sung with conviction. ║ │ │║ ║ │ │║ The cd is a hard driven sound. the Saint can ║ │ │║ rock the house down with hard guiters and loud ║ │ │║ vocals. if you can find this please put it in ║ │ │║ your cd collection. the saint marches on. ║ │ │║ ║ │ │║ ║ │ │║ Armored Saint may have been one of the most ║ │ │║ unlucky bands of the burgeoning 80s metal scene. ║ │ │║ For starters, singer John Bush was once offered ║ │ │║ the vocalist role in Metallica, which he turned ║ │ │║ down because he thought his own band had what it ║ │ │║ took to be superstars. The band endured lineup ║ │ │║ changes, personal tragedy and their own bad ║ │ │║ choice in a record label that had no idea how to ║ │ │║ handle this act. And finally, their classy ║ │ │║ version of metal was just one step outside of ║ │ │║ either the more typical Judas Priest/Iron Maiden ║ │ │║ schools of metal or the blossoming caveman ║ │ │║ thrash metal scene. Armored Saint became this ║ │ │║ band that had its small core of ardent followers ║ │ │║ but spent much of their existence in the 80s on ║ │ │║ the outside looking in at other bands' ║ │ │║ successes. ║ │ │║ ║ │ │║ March of the Saint, their debut full length, ║ │ │║ didn't necessarily help their cause. While by no ║ │ │║ means a bad record, it was hardly the thing of ║ │ │║ fire and brimstone that might take a new ║ │ │║ listener by the ears and make him or a her a ║ │ │║ lifelong fanatic. The songs are pleasant, ║ │ │║ tuneful and very well played by all the ║ │ │║ musicians involved. Yet something in the ║ │ │║ sterile, friendly production robbed the band of ║ │ │║ the energy that is necessary for metal. Armored ║ │ │║ Saint needed a debut that raged at ten and the ║ │ │║ volume knob was a more suburban neighborhood ║ │ │║ friendly six or five. That was indeed a shame ║ │ │║ because several of these songs have proven to be ║ │ │║ concert standards for the Saint over the years, ║ │ │║ including "Can U Deliver" and "Mad House". The ║ │ │║ band's generally midtempo, melodic music never ║ │ │║ did quite achieve anthemic status on any of the ║ │ │║ songs presented here (though "Glory Hunter" and ║ │ │║ the title track try very hard) or offered enough ║ │ │║ of a ruckus to excite anyone who was also ║ │ │║ checking in with Metallica, Slayer or any number ║ │ │║ of other more vehemently acidic acts of the ║ │ │║ time. ║ │ │║ ║ │ │║ For longtime fans of Armored Saint, this album ║ │ │║ is obviously already in one's collection. For ║ │ │║ those who are newer to the band and are checking ║ │ │║ out their history, subsequent releases capture ║ │ │║ the band in a prime form, rather than this ║ │ │║ diminished state that is March of the Saint. ║ │ │║ ║ │ │║ In the early 80's, there really was only two ║ │ │║ american metal movements. There was thrash metal ║ │ │║ (Metallica, Anthrax, Slayer) and hair/glam metal ║ │ │║ (Ratt, Motley Crue, Dokken). In 1984, the saints ║ │ │║ came marching and released their debut. Their ║ │ │║ debut, however, was differnt than the other ║ │ │║ material being released by American bands. They ║ │ │║ weren't hardcore thrash yet they weren't pretty ║ │ │║ boys either. They were band of their own sound ║ │ │║ at the time. It's like they took some Euro metal ║ │ │║ styles such as NWOBHM and mixed it with some ║ │ │║ thrash. Many called them "power metal", but that ║ │ │║ really doesn't fit them either as that genre is ║ │ │║ dominated by super fast bands such as Helloween, ║ │ │║ Running Wild, and Iced Earth. What can I say, ║ │ │║ they were a band with their own sound and its a ║ │ │║ shame their debut wasn't more of a success and ║ │ │║ the band was, and is, a terrific straight ahead ║ │ │║ metal band. ║ │ │║ ║ │ │║ First of all I have to say this is a ║ │ │║ fundamentally good record. Each band member ║ │ │║ shows that they are technically compotent and ║ │ │║ the songwriting is well done. However, whoever ║ │ │║ produced this must have had a "hair band" in ║ │ │║ mind here. The entire production seems overly ║ │ │║ clean and polished. The production kills all the ║ │ │║ meotion this record had. 4 stars for the music ║ │ │║ but only 2 for the production ║ │ │║ ║ │ │║ In the early 80's, the popularity of heavy metal ║ │ │║ music was arguably at its peak. The LA scene was ║ │ │║ particularly active, with bands like Ratt and ║ │ │║ Motley Crue leading the way. New bands were a ║ │ │║ dime a dozen. ║ │ │║ With their first full-length release, "March of ║ │ │║ the Saint", Armored Saint clearly distinguished ║ │ │║ themselves from the pack. Not a "pretty boy" or ║ │ │║ "hair" band, the Saints put the music first and ║ │ │║ produced the American equivalent of euro-style ║ │ │║ metal, with heavy riffs and a solid twin guitar ║ │ │║ attack. Though many bands have talented guitar ║ │ │║ players, few could claim to have a vocalist with ║ │ │║ the singing ability of the Saint's John Bush. ║ │ │║ With Bush, the Saints had a powerful, dynamic ║ │ │║ and expressive voice capable of bringing melody ║ │ │║ and emotion to metal. ║ │ │║ ║ │ │║ With songs like "Seducer", "Mutiny On the ║ │ │║ World", and "March of the Saint", Armored Saint ║ │ │║ proved that they rocked as hard as anyone. ║ │ │║ Shifting gears on "Take A Turn", the closest ║ │ │║ thing to a ballad on the album, singer Bush ║ │ │║ gives perhaps his most emotional and inspired ║ │ │║ vocal effort. This album is all meat, with no ║ │ │║ filler material. Lots of memorable riffs, and ║ │ │║ melodic guitar solos. ║ │ │║ ║ │ │║ Armored Saint never achieved the acclaim and ║ │ │║ popularity they deserved, and various personal ║ │ │║ problems combined to take a heavy toll on the ║ │ │║ band. Through the years, the Saints have ║ │ │║ persevered and continued to produce quality ║ │ │║ recordings that carry the flag of American heavy ║ │ │║ metal forward into the new millenium. If you ║ │ │║ like metal, check out this CD and the entire ║ │ │║ library of this neglected band. ║ │ │║ ║ │ │║ ║ │ │║ ║ │ │║ ║ │ │║ ║ │ │║ ║ │ │╚════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════╝ │ │ │ │ │ │ │ │╔═════════════════════╗ │ │║ Release Tracklist ║ │ │╚═════════════════════╩══════════════════════════════════════════ │ │ │ │ 01 - March Of The Saint [04:13] │ │ 02 - Can U Deliver [03:35] │ │ 03 - Mad house [03:48] │ │ 04 - take A Turn [03:44] │ │ 05 - Seducer [03:51] │ │ 06 - Mutiny On The World [03:26] │ │ 07 - Glory Hunter [05:10] │ │ 08 - Stricken By Fate [03:44] │ │ 09 - Envy [02:59] │ │ 10 - False Alarm [04:14] │ │ │ │ Total Length : [38:44 minn │ │ │ │ │ │ ▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄ │ │ │ │ │ │ │ │ ╔═════════════════════╗ │ │ ║ Greetings To: ║ │ │ ╚═════════════════════╝ │ │ │ │ Too all people who contributes to make this │ │ archive of good music in a exceptional conditions │ │ │ │ │ │ │ │■ ■│ └───────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────┘
