Awaited follow up to the 2019 album Rites I & II, we're presented with 2
subsequent aural rituals from Peter Verwimp intricate guitar driven
soundscapes. The Rites series touches on the importance of ceremony and
ritual in our daily lives. It deals with our interconnectedness with nature
as a whole and the necessity to acknowledge and use this connection as an
amplifier of thoughts, ideas and emotions. Minimal, meditative ambient
drones with layers of meandering guitars and voices mixing elements of
doom, drone and ambient experimentation. Rites III & IV expand on the
shamanic and animistic path, an ongoing journey through flesh, sound and
spirit.
bio : |
doom/drone/lo-fi/shamanistic/soundscape/noise/folk..... from Antwerpen,
Belgium
A project in a search of a shamanistic perspective, channeling at times
minimal, meditativ drones; and at other a catharsis of doom, noise and
experimentation touching upon folk, post rock, psychedelica and more. But
always in a free form. After having spend time in numerous bands and sound
art projects, (Building Transmissions, Station Grey, Stifled Cries, Maya,
Code Ishan, Sombra DeBestia); collaborations with Aaron Turner of Isis,
Mary Bellamy, Douglas Park, SamonTakahashi, Carl Michael Von hauswolff,
Stephan Beck, Kris Delacourt, ...) ASHTORETH was formed in Antwerp, Belgium
during winter of 2010.
After a first performance at the Entree>Exit exhibition ASHTORETH was
offered a collaboration with underground fashion label Pelican Avenue, whom
dedicated a new collection of clothing to ASHTORETH's music.
This was presented at the Paris Fashion Week in March 2011 and resulted in
a singlesided LP by the name of 'ITOBIA', recorded live during the
performance, and was released in October 2011 by Pelican Avenue, limited to
300 copies.
ASHTORETH is a solo-project in search of a shamanistic perspective,
channeling at times minimal, meditative drones with layers of meandering
guitars and at others a catharsis of doom, drone, ambient, folk, metal,
noise and experimentation. always in a free and improvised form.
ASHTORETH is a one man's journey into the unknown, exploring new sonic
landscapes with every single live performance, sometimes accompanied by
projected film.

Hi chaps! This is the new retrofuturistic "back to the future"
obso-leet AMOK nfo hybridising oldskool ASCII art and YAML.
As a possible first in the scene (is it really?), we provide an nfo
that is designed to be both human and machine readable.
It is not so interesting for the average joe ripper listener but it
will be a useful tool for siteops, nukers, dupedb and archives
curators.
Why this?
Because we need a structure that can support metadata and UTF8.
As years pass, dirnames are getting stuffed with more and more
metadata. It is impossible to parse 100% reliably because dirnames
are just not designed to be storage for heterogenous metadata.
With id3v2, vorbis and .yml.nfo files, we can fix this problem,
we can have a more reliable dupechecking, automate common tasks,
filter and sort releases based on different metadata, such as
label and have more useful subgenres e.g. acid techno, deep house,
djent...
With .yml.nfo, you do not need read access to the media files and
id3 metadata, you can automate mandatory fields checks (eg. source
codec, purchase url)
nfo files supporting the yaml format should have the extension
.yml.nfo
e.g. 00-alice-bob-cd-2018.yml.nfo
The schema_version tag allows that nfo format to evolve and stay
compatible. The current schema will be published in the near
future to make sure all .yml.nfo released will use the same
structure and set of keys.
schema_version: 0.0.5
