He lends his not only powerful voice but ║ │ │║ also his without no doubt talented song writing ║ │ │║ expertise. ║ │ │║ ║ │ │║ The Simplified album starts with a brief ║ │ │║ keyboard piece called Stay Awake with the ║ │ │║ albumÆs engineerÆs rapping vocal that quite ║ │ │║ frankly, I donÆt think that much of, neither do ║ │ │║ any members of the band from what IÆve been ║ │ │║ told. It was voted down as soon as it was heard ║ │ │║ by the band and sneaked back onto the album just ║ │ │║ prior to the release without their ║ │ │║ knowledgeà..go figure! ║ │ │║ ║ │ │║ So the album starts as the band wanted it to ║ │ │║ with the lead single Watching As It Burns (see ║ │ │║ the video below). The guitars crunch and the ║ │ │║ vocals soar, a perfect single to introduce the ║ │ │║ band. 4 minutes exactly of melodic rock ║ │ │║ perfection. ║ │ │║ ║ │ │║ From On High took me a few plays and then it ║ │ │║ clicked, once again the guitars are crisp and ║ │ │║ DannyÆs chorus just gets better and better with ║ │ │║ each listen. ║ │ │║ ║ │ │║ ThatÆs My Boogie has Danny running through his ║ │ │║ musical inspirations over a chugging rock riff ║ │ │║ that at one point morphs into a jazzy keyboard ║ │ │║ and guitar piece with, dare I say it, a mock ║ │ │║ Dave Lee Roth æPanamaÆ style talky bit about a ║ │ │║ true life encounter with a Spanish waiter in ║ │ │║ regards to his and ManuelÆs long hair! ║ │ │║ ║ │ │║ I do really like the riff and lyrics to The One ║ │ │║ That Got Away. I found myself singing it while ║ │ │║ making a coffee a few days back after a few ║ │ │║ listens, not a bad sign. We Are A Wall an ode to ║ │ │║ strength and standing up for what you believe ║ │ │║ in, is of note for SeoaneÆs widdling guitar ║ │ │║ soloing. I am not so sure about the spoken bit ║ │ │║ in it though. ║ │ │║ ║ │ │║ I Will Fight No More Forever is the ballad of ║ │ │║ the piece and I think personally is where Mr. ║ │ │║ Vaughn always excels with personal lyrics, ║ │ │║ powerfully executed vocals, a true songsmith and ║ │ │║ a power ballad of true class. ║ │ │║ ║ │ │║ Falling Down only does so in its title and ║ │ │║ offers another driving chorus laden hookfest. ║ │ │║ Killing Time has a Black Label Society pinched ║ │ │║ harmonic thing about it. I do love a bit of ║ │ │║ B.L.S so another box ticked. Skeleton Tribe is ║ │ │║ another fine example of song craft and ║ │ │║ musicianship; a mention to the rhythm section ║ │ │║ should be noted at this point as they do a great ║ │ │║ job throughout, catchy and more hooks than the ║ │ │║ local angling club! ║ │ │║ ║ │ │║ The album winds up with the title track ║ │ │║ Simplified which is the most keyboard driven, ║ │ │║ commercial sounding A.O.R styled of all the ║ │ │║ tracks and a fantastic way to end matters. ║ │ │║ ║ │ │║ The album took me a few plays to really get into ║ │ │║ it, but it really does grow with each listen. A ║ │ │║ showcase of melody and the songwriters craft ║ │ │║ marred by an unwanted dodgy intro.
