Southern California ska-punk vets CodeName: Rocky returned in 2022 with the new EP Blueprint, their first release in six years and first with new vocalist Justin Picon (of Eve of Destruction) and new guitarist Matthew Montoya (of Cry Havoc), and now theyÆre set to follow that with another new EP, Foundation, on July 19 via Wiretap Records. They recently released lead single ôLittle Devil,ö which features Bite Me Bambi singer Tahlena Chikami, and weÆre now a second single ôKilling The Chemist,ö which features another cool guest: The Last Gang singer Brenna Red. ItÆs a fast, catchy song and BrennaÆs gritty voice sounds great alongside Justin, who had this to say about the song: "The song was inspired by my sister-in-law (Christina) & her husband (Jeff). Jeff is a Marine that served in Desert Shield & Desert Storm in Saudi Arabia and Kuwait under the first Bush. I actually wrote the song in 2016 when I found out Christina was diagnosed with breast cancerà I used JeffÆs actual war experience to create the metaphor for ChristinaÆs upcoming cancer battle & the fight she was about to face. CouldnÆt be happier that Christina has since kicked cancers ass & is now in remission. When we were demoing the song, I felt like it was missing somethingà then I thought, ôwhat better way to honor a strong, badass woman than to add a strong, badass woman to the trackö, and instantly Brenna came to mind. Working with her was great & when she showed up to record, she absolutely crushed it. Fun fact: Brenna is also on all the background tracks on the new EP. We were fortunate to have not only her doing backgrounds, but Bruce Zebal from Empired as well. Oh, and the guitar solo on the trackà thatÆs my dad!!"
