He found Eden, who had only played ║ │ │║ in some local Indiana bands before, through an ║ │ │║ ad and they soon found out that their musical ║ │ │║ tastes went well together. Ex-Paul DiÆAnnoÆs ║ │ │║ Killers and The Shock drummer Pete Newdeck (now ║ │ │║ The Steve Grimmett Band) was the first musician ║ │ │║ they added to the line-up and it was manager ║ │ │║ Carsten Schulz (Domain, Midnite Club, Evidence ║ │ │║ One) who brought in his protΘgΘ Thorsten Koehne ║ │ │║ (Code Of Perfection) as the bandÆs guitar player ║ │ │║ . The last member who joined the others, was ║ │ │║ keyboard player Ferdy Doernberg (Axel Rudi Pell, ║ │ │║ Uli Jon Roth, Rough Silk). ║ │ │║ A strong line-up asks for strong songs and ║ │ │║ thatÆs exactly whatÆs to be found on EdenÆs ║ │ │║ Curse debut album for AFM Records (instead of ║ │ │║ MTM Music). Logue, Eden and Schulz co-wrote the ║ │ │║ majority of the songs and among them are a lot ║ │ │║ of gems, such as ôEyes Of The Worldö (an ║ │ │║ Evidence One leftover), ôStronger Than The ║ │ │║ Flameö, ôAfter The Love Is Goneö, ôEdenÆs Curseö ║ │ │║ (my personal favourite) and ôHeaven Touch Meö. ║ │ │║ Michael Eden turns out to be a revelation, who ║ │ │║ is at his very best when heÆs singing the mid- ║ │ │║ tempo and up-tempo songs. Every now and then he ║ │ │║ reminds me of Steelheart vocalist Michael ║ │ │║ Matijevic. Just have a listen to the track ôWe ║ │ │║ All Die Youngö and youÆll know what I mean. ║ │ │║ Stylewise the material of EdenÆs Curse can be ║ │ │║ compared with bands like Dokken, Edguy, Europe ║ │ │║ and Pink Cream 69: melodic hard rock leaning ║ │ │║ towards melodic metal. ║ │ │║ What makes this debut album such a damn good ║ │ │║ effort is the teamwork of the songwriters, the ║ │ │║ band members and the producer, who turns out to ║ │ │║ be nobody else than æourÆ omni-present Dennis ║ │ │║ Ward. His coaching and great ideas have added ║ │ │║ greatly to the overall high level of this ║ │ │║ release. Count to that the excellent cover ║ │ │║ artwork of Thomas Ewerhard and we have an album ║ │ │║ that canÆt be missed by the readers of this here ║ │ │║ site.
