D'abord cachΘ dans les crΘdits des pochettes de disques α la rubrique
ôcomposition et productionö, Guts a assurΘ sa renommΘe de beatmaker en taillant
la bande-son d'Alliance Ethnik, de Big Red ou des Svinkels.
En solo depuis 2007 et son album ôLe Bienheureuxö (Wax On Records), il a ensuite
Θlargie sa palette musicale avec ôFreedomö, un disque plus sombre mais aussi
plus construit sorti sur son propre label Pura Vida. ExilΘ α Ibiza, c'est
depuis son εle des BalΘares qu'il publiera en 2011 ôParadise For Allö, sur le
label qui est
encore α ce jour le sien, Heavenly Sweetness.

Brand New Revolution : chacun des albums recelait un titre devenu depuis
classique.
Depuis 2013, il concocte avec son complice Mambo, les compilations Beach
Diggin', vouΘes α la dΘcouverte de galettes rares et ensoleillΘes.
Depuis que le hip hop est entrΘ dans sa vie par effraction, quelque part dans
les annΘes 80, Guts lui a consacrΘ tout son temps et son Θnergie. Ciselant pour
lui des milliers de samples, passant des nuits α la recherche du beat parfait ou
de la mΘlodie justement calΘe, le regard dirigΘ vers l'Ouest, en direction du
Bronx.
Alors, en 2014, aprΦs vingt-cinq ans d'une dΘvotion sans faille, il se dΘcide α
magnifier cette musique qui, par la richesse et la qualitΘ des sources
utilisΘes, a fait de lui le producteur qu'il est. Cette musique qui l'a rendu
aussi curieux qu'exigeant et aussi ouvert que raffinΘ. MPC sous le bras, Guts
est allΘ enregistrer α la Mecque New-Yorkaise, collaborant avec Patrice ou Coddy
ChesnuTT, avec les lΘgendes Grand Puba ou Masta Ace, mais aussi, dΘnichant dans
les angles morts des artistes plus confidentiels comme la chanteuse soul Lorine
Chia, le duo de Mc's vΘloces Tanya Morgan ou le jazzman Leron Thomas. De ces
sessions studio est nΘ ôHip Hop After Allö, album en forme de dΘclaration
d'amour et de remerciements Θternels, pierre apportΘe par Guts α cette
cathΘdrale musicale en mΩme temps que planche d'appel pour aller encore plus
loinà Car, balayer la France et une partie de l'Europe avec un live-band pour
porter sur scΦne ses classiques mais aussi les titres rutilants de Hip Hop After
All (Open Wide, Man Funk, Want It Backà) l'avait confortΘ dans une idΘe plus que
prΘsente dans un coin de sa tΩte : faire un album o∙ les proportions 80 %
samples et programmation / 20 % live seraient inversΘes, le faisant passer de
faiseur de grooves programmΘs α chef d'orchestre d'un collectif.
Repoussant sa perpΘtuelle exploration musicale pour aller vers l'Θlectro-funk,
l'afro-disco, le jazz spatial, Guts ne s'est rien interdit pour composer
ETERNAL, album qui sort en 2016, rΘsultat d'une distillation crΘative entre les
membres du live band de Hip Hop After All (Florian Pellissier aux claviers, Greg
F. α la guitare, Kenny Ruby α la basse, Tibo Brandalise α la batterie, Leron
Thomas, trompette et chant) et les nouveaux ΘlΘments Tanya Morgan et Lorine
Chia.
C'est avec cet effectif que Guts va quadriller un nombre consΘquents de scΦnes
et de festivals, puis, finalement, en redessiner les contours. Leron Thomas,
Lorine Chia et Von Pea cΘderont respectivement leurs fauteuils α Wolfgang
Volburn, Mary May et Beat Assailliant, et c'est aux commandes de ce groupe
nouvelle gΘnΘration qu'il sortira en 2017 son EP ôStop The Violenceö.
2017 sera Θgalement l'annΘe o∙, avec son partenaire Mambo, Guts sortira Beach
Diggin' 5, un ultime chapitre qui viendra clore une sΘrie de compilations qui
aura illuminΘ bien des ΘtΘs.

Originally concealed in the credits of the record covers under the heading
ôcomposition and productionö, Guts secured his fame as a beatmaker by trimming
the soundtrack of Alliance Ethnik, Big Red or the Svinkels.
In solo since 2007 and his album ôLe Bienheureuxö(Was On Records), he then
expanded his musical palette with ôFreedomö, a darker but also more released
record released on his own label Pura Vida. Exiled in Ibiza is From his Balearic

Since hip hop broke into his life, somewhere in the 1980s, Guts has devoted it
all his time and energy. Chasing for him thousands of samples, spending nights
looking for the perfect beat or the precisely set melody, the look directed
towards the West, towards the Bronx.
So in 2014, after twenty-five years of unfailing devotion, he decided to magnify
this music which, by the richness and quality of the sources used, made him the
producer he is. This music that made it as curious as demanding and as open as
refined. MPC under the arm, Guts went to record in Mecca New York, collaborating
with Patrice or Coddy ChesnuTT, with legends Grand Puba or Masta Ace, but also,
finding in the blind spots some more confidential artists like soul singer
Lorine Chia , The duo of Mc's swift Tanya Morgan or the jazzman Leron Thomas.
From these studio sessions is born ôHip Hop After Allö, album in the form of
declaration of love and eternal thanks, stone brought by Guts to this musical
cathedral at the same time as a call board to go even further à Because,
sweeping France and part of Europe with a live band to bring on stage its
classics but also the shiny titles of Hip Hop After All (Open Wide, Man Funk,
Want It Back à) had it In an idea more than present in a corner of his head: to
make an album where the proportions 80% samples and programming / 20% live would
be reversed, making him go from programmed beatmaker to a collective conductor.
Pushing back his perpetual musical exploration to the electro-funk, the
afro-disco, space jazz, Guts didn't forbid anything to compose ETERNAL, an
album released in 2016, the result of a creative distillation between the
members Live band Hip Hop After All (Florian Pellissier on keyboards, Greg F. on
guitar, Kenny Ruby on bass, Tibo Brandalise on drums, Leron Thomas, trumpet and
vocals) and the new elements Tanya Morgan and Lorine Chia.
It is with this workforce that Guts will grid a number of consecutive scenes and
festivals, then, finally, to redraw the contours. Leron Thomas, Lorine Chia and
Von Pea will give their seats to Wolfgang Volburn, Mary May and Beat Assailliant
respectively, and it is this new generation band that will be releasing their EP
ôStop The Violenceö in 2017.
2017 will also be the year when, with his partner Mambo, Guts will release Beach
Diggin æ5, a final chapter that will close a series of compilations that had
illuminated many summers.
