Her songs, increasingly ambitious in scope and style, are █ █ hauntingly beautiful portraits. █ █ █ █ Her first two albums "The Myth of Patience" and "The Pie-Love Sky" are █ █ the work of a young yet highly original artist finding her voice. They █ █ feature highly melodic songs accompanied by definitively original █ █ lyrics. █ █ █ █ After releasing her third album, the sparse and haunting "Snow on █ █ Saturn" (which includes a jubilant version of "The Book of Love" by the █ █ Magnetic Fields), Jodi commenced a three month tour of Europe, after █ █ which she spent much of her time back in New York City working as a █ █ secretary by day and busking on the subway platforms and writing songs █ █ at night. █ █ █ █ In the spring of 2009 (shortly after finding out she was pregnant) she █ █ teamed up with fellow Canadian Malcolm Burn to record two new albums: █ █ the live in-studio album "Saturn Returns," in which she collaborated █ █ with a full band to play some of her older songs with a █ █ New-Orleans-Dixie twist, and "In Waterland," a richly layered work █ █ featuring her signature haunting vocals, startling lyrics, and unique █ █ phrasing. █ █ █ █ After recording the initial tracks, Jodi discovered that not only was █ █ she pregnant, but she was going to be giving birth to twins! After the █ █ birth of her sons Stan and Hale, she took two years off before finally █ █ returning to the recordings she made with Burn. She ran a compelling and █ █ highly successful Kickstarter campaign to raise the funds to mix and █ █ master the records, which are to be released May 15, 2012. █ █ █ █ In 2007 Jodi was awarded the Songwriters Hall of Fame Abe Olman Award █ █ for Excellence in Songwriting. In 2010 she was chosen as an exhibitor █ █ for SoundGate2010 Sound Art Portal in Aalborg, Denmark, and in 2008 she █ █ was the Artist-in-Residence for Brooklyn College's Performance and █ █ Interactive Media Arts program. She has been included on several █ █ compilations, including the SongwriterÆs Hall of Fame New Writers █ █ Showcase, JPFÆs MusicÆs ô15 Minutes," and "Rockrgrl Discoveries." █ █ █ █ In addition to working as artist/producer of her two forthcoming albums, █ █ Jodi has written lyrics for three children's music DVDs, and has █ █ authored a children's ABC music book ("Juno's ABC's"). She is currently █ █ working on her sixth collection of original songs and a children's █ █ theatrical musical.
