And, to the casual listener, the "Eclectics EP" may seem like the work of a producer who has been on the scene for years. Yet, Tkacz is a relative newcomer to the table of Detroit Electronic music. "After Hours" and "Roof Tops" are reminiscent of the early days of Plus 8 and Richie Hawtin, who much like Tkacz does here, took the essence of Detroit influence, melted it down, retained the funk, let their technology bleed and created raw, yet brilliantly complex productions that carved their places in Detroit lore. If the a-side can be compared to Detroit's early days, then the B-side and "909 Kids" offer a solid arching connection to the modern electronic music realm. "909 Kids" bridges the depth of the Detroit sound to the sample based, ethereal realm of modern day international electronic music production. "Bold Behaviour" is a cerebral delve into the inner reaches of the darker productions of say early Stacey Pullen or Carl Craig. A perfect mix of funk, intelligence and machine created emotion.
