Four years after 2021's We Are the River, I'm finally back with a new
full-length record: To Carry On. Notably, this is the first Morke
full-length in the melodic black/dark metal style that I first shifted
to on Forged in Steel and Love, and I could not be more proud of what I
have here.
With help from my very near and dear friends CJ Yacoub (Canis Dirus,
Vulning) and Tanner Anderson (Obsequiae, Majesties), I've been able to
make the album I've wanted to make from the start. This took two and a
half years of near weekly work, but this has also been the most
rewarding record I've ever made.
The nine songs here weave tales of nature, true love, bountiful floral
landscapes, and perseverance. In the past, I've focused on darker and
more emotionally pained themes because I didn't understand how to
process them and live with them. In the time since WAtR's release, I've
gained those skills and more, and now I'm at a point in my life where I
feel truly peaceful and happy (even despite all of the real-world issues
occurring at any given time), and I want this album to reflect that.
And with that, I give you the brand new Morke record: To Carry On. As
the title implies, all we can do on any given day is to take care of
ourselves, to take care of each other, and above all else, To Carry On.
