Working remotely from across Salt Lake City, Denver, New Jersey, and Spain, the band are made up of members of Daytrader, Crime In Stereo, Capsule, RILE, and Spirits. With a subtlety and intelligence that resembles post-hardcore, NEKSÆ hardcore style benefits from that intelligence and creates a unique and compelling sound. ôWe spent a week together at Sound Acres in New Jersey in January 2023 with no real idea what this band was going to sound like,ö says band member Matt Mascarenas. ôWe just wanted an excuse to hang out. We ended up writing all the songs on the spot and Derrick tracked drums while we were in the same place, then spent the rest of the year recording everything else remotely. Wes and I did guitars at Archive Recordings in Salt Lake City. Robert tracked bass in Denver, and Wes re-amped them. Gary did vocals and mixed the record back at Sound Acres, where it all started.ö
