R E L E A S E ] ▓▌ ▓████▓▌ ▓▌ ▓████▓▌ Outtakes from the September 89 sessions Nirvana did ▓▌ ▓████▓▌ at the Music Source Studio in Seatlle, WA. ▓▌ ▓████▓▌ ▓▌ ▓████▓▌ Straight from http://www.livenirvana.com : ▓▌ ▓████▓▌ ▓▌ ▓████▓▌ The band recorded tracks to be included on the Blew ▓▌ ▓████▓▌ EP which was to be released to support their ▓▌ ▓████▓▌ forthcoming European tour [10/23/89 to 12/03/89], ▓▌ ▓████▓▌ but the EP was not in fact released until after the ▓▌ ▓████▓▌ tour had finished. ▓▌ ▓████▓▌ ▓▌ ▓████▓▌ The producer was Steve Fisk, and worked at the ▓▌ ▓████▓▌ Music Source studios on Seattle's Capitol Hill. ▓▌ ▓████▓▌ The band was once again a three-piece at this ▓▌ ▓████▓▌ point, since Jason Everman had parted from them ▓▌ ▓████▓▌ shortly after the New York concert on 07/18/89. ▓▌ ▓████▓▌ Fisk says sessions lasted for two evenings, ▓▌ ▓████▓▌ although the band had reserved three. ▓▌ ▓████▓▌ ▓▌ ▓████▓▌ The sessions began after 6pm on weekdays, when the ▓▌ ▓████▓▌ studio produced rock records, since the studio ▓▌ ▓████▓▌ recorded film soundtracks and advertisement jingles ▓▌ ▓████▓▌ during the daytime. ▓▌ ▓████▓▌ ▓▌ ▓████▓▌ The band recorded all the basics for the songs ▓▌ ▓████▓▌ during the first night and the following day ▓▌ ▓████▓▌ recorded vocals, mixes and guitar parts. Gaar ▓▌ ▓████▓▌ contends that mixes might have gone on a third ▓▌ ▓████▓▌ night. ▓▌ ▓████▓▌ ▓▌ ▓████▓▌ According to Fisk: "It was a very cheap, quickie ▓▌ ▓████▓▌ session. They didn't record [the songs] quick[ly]; ▓▌ ▓████▓▌ they did a lot of trying it again. There's five ▓▌ ▓████▓▌ songs on one reel. There probably is not a lot of ▓▌ ▓████▓▌ multiples. There might be bits and pieces. There ▓▌ ▓████▓▌ was no money. It was recorded on some used tape ▓▌ ▓████▓▌ that was lying around. Sub Pop was broke." ▓▌ ▓████▓▌ ▓▌ ▓████▓▌ Jack Endino somewhat arcanely described the Fisk ▓▌ ▓████▓▌ recordings as "A very late-night session." ▓▌ ▓████▓▌ ▓▌ ▓████▓▌ Cobain was unhappy with the result of the session ▓▌ ▓████▓▌ and later tried to re-record some of the tracks ▓▌ ▓████▓▌ with Craig Montgomery on 01/01/91, but Cobain was ▓▌ ▓████▓▌ unsatisfied with those versions as well. Their ▓▌ ▓████▓▌ equipment was in a particularly bad state of ▓▌ ▓████▓▌ affairs by this point, which was certainly a major ▓▌ ▓████▓▌ factor in the poor session.
