.Releasenotes ..............................................................
Nunstalker is an three piece punk rock machine from Vancouver, Canada. Known
locally as Vancouver's Infamous Punk Rock Priests, the band was assembled in
March 2000 by founding Francophobes bassist, Jeff Seeley. After a 3 year run
with the Francos including several Canadian tours and a deal with Spawner
Records that 'somehow' failed to produce a single full length record, Jeff
called it quits to pursue his love of hardcore music. He immediately began
working on a new powerhouse lineup that could take advantage of the contacts
he had made with the Francos. Jeff inquired about the availability of Spawner
label-mates, the Livid's frontman, Ian Higginbotham. He learned that the
Livids also weren't 'able' to release a full length record with Spawner and
that the Livid's had broken up. Ian was into taking on this new project. The
duo recruited their mutual friend, the toughest waiter in all of Squamish,
Bill Featherston. Bill was known to Jeff and Ian from his role in the
Squamish based punk band Ziggy's Fix, a band he fronts... while playing the
drums.
Don't expect to hear much 'preaching' at a Nunstalker show. In fact, don't
expect too hear much 'between song banter' at all. These three athiests would
rather cram 23 songs into a 45 minute time slot than tell bad jokes about the
church. If Nunstalker does take a between song break, it's usually just to
change a broken string. The music this unit unleashes is quick, tight, and
aggressive. The choruses are catchy and hook driven, despite being screamed
by one of the most unique voices to come out of punk rock in a long time.
This band is meticulous about song writing and getting well known for their
full throttle, balls out live show. Nunstalker's collars are authentic...
despite being regularly lost, stolen and replaced. There's a clerical supply
store in Vancouver with staff under the impression that a fake play called
"Three Priests" has been running strong for 2 years now.
Vancouver's Infamous Punk Rock Priests currently hold the official record for
most gigs at Vancouver's most popular punk bar, the Cobalt [26]. They've
earned coveted opening slots for such heavyweights as DOA, the Dayglo
Abortions, Death Sentence, the Hotrod Lunatics (X-Accused), the Spitfires,
Power Clown, Belvedere, and Byathread. Nunstalker have started headlining
their own shows around Western Canada and North-Western USA in support of
their upcoming debut full length CD... an entertaining rock and roll
hurricane they've appropriately entitled DEFROCKED. Engineered by acclaimed
producer and former dbs frontman Jesse Gander, DEFROCKED is set to be
released by Crusty Records on Saturday June 1, 2002 at the Cobalt.
Jebus must be spinning in his grave...
