Illinois-based pop-punk band Real Friends have announced their new album Blue Hour, scheduled for release on Oct. 11. This will be their first album to be released independently. Alongside the announcement, the band have released a new single titled ôOur Love Was Like A Sad Song,ö which explores guilt and regret. It follows the previous single from the group, ôWaiting Room,ö which they released on June 28. The bandÆs forthcoming 13-track album Blue Hour marks a significant shift from their previous works, such as The Home Inside My Head (2016) and Composure (2018). This new album delves into more complex emotions and explores heavier themes. Once again, they collaborated with producer Andrew Wade to bring this vision to life. About the new single, vocalist and lyricist Cody Muraro shared the inspiration behind the track: ôBefore joining Real Friends, I faced some of the toughest years of my life, spiraling into depression and failing to be there for a loved one. This song, æOur Love Was Like a Sad SongÆ, reflects on those moments of guilt and growth.ö The upcoming album Blue Hour will be MuraroÆs first full-length release with Real Friends, as well as the bandÆs first since 2018.
