Underneath the big riffs and no matter how introspective the lyrics, it is hard not to imagine them having fun together. The New England five-piece have a natural rapport and a strong musical bond. Past releases hinted at the bandÆs Drive-Thru era roots with a sense of reflection and nostalgia that has remained at the heart of their sound. 2017 saw their last release recorded by Seth Henderson (Knuckle Puck, Real Friends), the aptly named EP ôArrivalsö where Real Talk found their sound. Currently signed to LA based Anchor Eighty Four Records, Real Talk finished recording A Better Life in early March with Gary Cioni (Free Throw, Hot Mulligan, SOMOS), signaling somewhat of a rebirth for them. Focusing on honing their sound the band accomplished massive guitar tones that cut through with resolve set alongside crisp, punchy sounding drums that somehow feel both satisfying and compelling, and then infused it all with the hard-working optimism and nostalgia that make Real Talk who they are. With this newest work comes a sense of maturity but also a new vocalist: Dylan Slick. Slick brings urgency to Real Talk, oscillating between a quiet sense of reflection and soaring anthemic pop vocals with a gritty twist û æIÆm just looking for a better lifeö seeming more relevant now than ever. ............................................................................
