The band was formed in Buenos Aires City in 1994 as a band of high school friends. During those first years, two cassettes were released: "S≤lo un dφa mßs" and "Shaila" in 1996 and 1998 respectively. The band's performances were not abundant at that time, but Shaila's presence at the Buenos Aires underground concerts was increasing. In 1999, the band formed its own independent label and released the Bad Religion tribute "Devotos de una mala religi≤n" (Devotees of a bad religion) which was very well received within the Hc-punk scene and would lay the foundations for the good reception that Shaila's first LP would have. In 2000, "Progresar" was released, with which the band began to work at an increasingly professional level and with which it found a good response from the public that from that year onwards was constantly growing, both for Shaila and for several bands in the Hc-Punk scene in Buenos Aires. "Progresar" has already become a true classic of melodic, fast and Spanish-language hc-punk in Argentina. During those years Shaila was chosen to open for Lagwagon and Down by law in their visits to Buenos Aires. By then, invitations to play in various provinces of Argentina began, and also to cross the Andes for the first time, invited by BBS Paranoicos where the good reception of the public makes Chile a second home that is visited annually. In 2002 Shaila enters the studio again to shape her second album "El enga±o", this album follows the line of what was "Progresar" with more complex lyrics and a broader notion of the hc-punk genre with more varied themes. This album was quickly accepted by the public and the band went on to play in larger venues such as Cemento, which would become a sort of home for Shaila in Buenos Aires. They also began receiving invitations to massive festivals such as the Anti-globalization Festival with El otro yo, Cadena Perpetua and Carajo or Rock al Parque with bands such as ┴rbol, Raφz, Totus Toss and Nativo among others. In October of that year we had the pride of supporting ALL on their first South American tour in Buenos Aires and one of the best shows ever seen in our lands. 2003 found the band already established, with shows throughout the country, practically every week, visiting Chile twice a year in shows for 1000 people and participating in festivals such as the "Festival against the war in Iraq" with Attaque 77, Carajo, Horcas, Cadena Perpetua and Cabezones. During this year the "Melodic Hardcore Tour" was born, a tour that every year takes the band to more and more towns in Argentina from Rφo Gallegos to S.S. de Jujuy. In the middle of the year the hardcore label Firme y Alerta supports the band in the edition of a compilation album of the first two cassettes, plus compilation tracks, rarities and acoustic tracks, which is titled "Congelando el tiempo" (Freezing time); almost simultaneously the band's first video clip of the song "A la derecha de la cruz" is released, which is broadcast by video chains. The fruits of "El Enga±o" would continue, the band was invited to the official presentation of the new albums of Cabezones and Attaque 77, in July and December 2003 respectively, both took place at "El Teatro", one of the most important places in Buenos Aires. The summer of 2004 had the band in the studio for what would be the recording of "Ma±anas", their last album, which the press and many of their fans have pointed out as their best to date, fourteen songs ranging from the most hardcore song the band has ever made to great punk-pop songs, the most varied album and one that has definitely made the band much better known both in Argentina and in the rest of Latin America. During 2004 the band managed to play in two tours in the northernmost cities of Chile, Arica and Iquique, to one of the southernmost, Puerto Montt, passing through more than 10 cities throughout the sister country; as well as continuing to tour all of Argentina. By mid-year the video clip for the song "Cuando no quieres sentir" was released, they participated in the "Rock sin Marca" festival with El otro yo, Las Manos de Filippi and Massacre and they gave the biggest shows in terms of attendance for the band in Cemento. By the end of the year, Shaila was chosen to open for MxPx on their visit to Buenos Aires and thus set foot for the first time in one of the most important places in Buenos Aires, the Estadio Obras. 2004 would end with the show with which the band celebrated its first 10 years of life in a full house at Cemento. 2005, after the Croma±on tragedy, became a very difficult year for rock in Argentina. The band took advantage of not being able to play to compose a future album and to produce the video clip for the song "Ma±anas", the second cut from the album of the same name. Among the few performances that took place in the first part of the year, a show to benefit the children's soup kitchens of Mojave stands out. ............................................................................
