The expectations ║ │ │║ concerning the collaboration between guitar ║ │ │║ genius Neal Schon and master vocalist Jeff Scott ║ │ │║ Soto were running high to say the least and ║ │ │║ quickly had fans dreaming of another slice of ║ │ │║ classic melodic rock. ║ │ │║ Unfortunately the whole affair falls a bit short ║ │ │║ of the mark and is best described as a good but ║ │ │║ definitely not a great album. ║ │ │║ With the opening duo of ôHighest Groundö and ║ │ │║ ôNew Positionö and the beautiful, sensitive ║ │ │║ ôSoul Goes Onö it offers some absolute gems but ║ │ │║ on ôAnother Worldö, ôPeepholeö and ôPraiseö it ║ │ │║ takes a serious dip. The remaining five cuts are ║ │ │║ simply good, but nothing more nothing less. ║ │ │║ While listening to this disc I couldnÆt shake ║ │ │║ the feeling that the writing duo of Schon/Soto ║ │ │║ wasnÆt always firing on all cylinders when ║ │ │║ putting together the various pieces. ║ │ │║ Musically everything clicks, but then again with ║ │ │║ a set of tonsils like that of mister Soto (whoÆs ║ │ │║ simply phenomenal on the aforementioned ôSoul ║ │ │║ Goes Onö) and the cutting edge six string ║ │ │║ aerobics of mister Schon thereÆs really nothing ║ │ │║ much that can go wrong now, is there?
