Rewind 3:44 Release Notes: -------- Hailing from Grimsby, this rocking trio present their blinding fourth studio album with the best track names known to man! There is nothing I dislike about this album. Nothing. Whilst I can admit I havenÆt heard too much about this band in my musical career, I am somewhat resentful of this. Where have I been? ôControlö is the bands fourth studio album, recorded live nonetheless, and itÆs completely flawless with respect to versatility, production, emotive power and memorability. Touching on blues and jazz with a large dash of rock, this collection of compositions have reserved my attention for the duration and it has to be noted just how well and seamlessly these musicians play together. Jason Barwick is unfortunately one of those versatile musicians you can easily scorn through jealousy, with a potent toned voice and silk laced guitar skills (and luscious locks!), making a performance look completely effortless. Bah! But, in turn, bassist Tim Smith and drummer Kurtis Smith are not to be overshadowed, as the combination of the three sparks all sorts of awesome! The bass and drums are completely locked throughout the album, providing a solid foundation to which BarwickÆs lead guitar sprinkles on that extra-special magic dust thatÆll really get your ears and eyes to open to this rock trio. There are no fillers in this album, in fact The Brew have really pulled out all the stops with this one, and being notoriously energetic with their performances, these tracks will easily have a stadium bouncing in unison. Yes, there are some similarities to other artists here, but these days, what musician can get away with being liked to another? I can hear traces of Pink Floyd, a dusting of Santana, perhaps a bit of The Doors and The Whoà..but itÆs mostly The Brew to be honest. Favourite tracks on ôControlö include album opener ôRepeatö for a real taste energetic riffage, ôEjectö for the superb guitar solo, ôPauseö for the classic side of rock and ôStopö for the acoustic sound and Barwicks vocals. The Brew should be proud to present this top class collection of songs. The album can soothe the ear for many in a variety of situations, and I canÆt urge you to seek this band out enough. ôControlö combines the classic with classy, the gritty with smoothness, the musicianship with passion and is an absolute stomper! Did I mention this was recorded live? Woah.
