Though not as vocally dynamic as the Temptations or the Four Tops, they were excellent showmen with energetic and inventive choreography.. "Pure Pleasure" picks up where the group's debut LP "The Dynamic Superiors" left off. There's nothing quite as charming as "Shoe Shoe Shine", but it's a more even record overall. Ashford & Simpson wrote and produced the entire album, and obviously wrote "Nobody's Gonna Change Me" for openly gay lead Tony Washington. Its meaningful lyrics, great singing, catchy hook, and excellent production should have propelled it to the top of the charts.
