Kurt Tucholsky (1890-1935) was one of the most influential political writers of the Weimar Republic. A passionate journalist and co-editor of the legendary weekly Die Welentbühne, Tucholsky stood out as a sharp-witted critic of society in the tradition of Heinrich Heine. He was a satirist, cabaret writer, poet, novelist, and essayist, and identified as a leftist democrat, socialist, pacifist, and outspoken anti-militarist. A fierce early critic of National Socialism, Tucholsky was stripped of his German citizenship in 1933 and took his own life in exile in Sweden two years later. With Weltenbühne, Tyske Ludder transform Tucholsky's themes into a dark and compelling sonic experience that bridges Dark Electro, Industrial, and EBM. The phrase Tyske Ludder directly translated means "German whore" in Danish and Norwegian and was used in those countries to describe a native woman that was romantically involved with a German soldier during World War II.
