The somatic effects of different impulses are often unclear until the
moment they are experienced. However, the way these impulses are
processed and guided towards their final area of effect is remarkably
similar in many cases. Even if you consciously try to reenact a
certain event by exactly following previously taken steps, the outcome
is seldom the same.
Each frequency becomes an impuls, which flows through our axons until
they reach our most affective areas, where translation and
interpretation take place. It is interesting to look at the
microseconds between the impuls and its translation: a moment of pure
objectivity, without interpretation or judgement. In that moment,
music is exactly the same as any other vibration in the air. It is our
interpretation that ultimately compels us towards the repetitive ones
we call rhythm.
