It was released early 2000. All tracks recorded live for the Australian TV comedy game shows, "Good News Week" or "Good News Week Nightlite" in 1999. Track 4 recorded for "Good News Week Nightlite" on 24 June 1999. In the closing days of the 20th century, about seven hundred people crammed into a Global Television studio each week to be part of Network Ten's Good News Week experience. In all its myriad forms... And what did they get? A parody of a game show in which no-one wins anything except fleeting fame and occasional embarrassment, wit, satire, silliness, stupidity and a bit of live music. Local andinternational artists, combined with the GNW mob made a lot of music in 1999. Much of it original, some of it written especially for the show, most of it marked "Warning Violence, Course Language And Adult Themes". It could start with an infectious germ of an idea from paul McDermott, a bit of late-night instrument swapping by The Gadflys, or just the groovy arrangements of musical director, Paul Mac. Sometimes it happened by consensus, sometimes by osmosis, sometimes by psychosis (cirrhosis? narcosis?) Paradoxes abounded. Josh Abrahams and Amiel Daemion teamed up with Karma County and produced the world's first techno torch song. "Watchman" lead singer, Daniel Greeves, played funky disco harp for Australia's favourite spice boy, Mark Trevorrow. Dylan Lewis popped up in the midst of some howling horns to solo on a tiny piano accordian. Old friends like Rebecca Barnard would always jump happily into whatever musical maelstrom was swirling on the day, and so did new friends like Caroline Kennedy and the boys from Deadstar. Marcia Hines triumphed and maintained extreme grace under fire, explosions and little bits of glitter that get into everything. Mandawuy Yunupingu made a flying visit to promote Yothu Yindi's "One Blood"; taught Mick and Andy Gadfly a song as the audience fought over seats and moments later were performing it live on national television. Ben Lee and his jet lagged band delivered a great performance, stopping only for brief naps in a standing position. Paul Kelly and Uncle Bill gathered around "one microphone well place" as Sound Guru Keith Walker proved that simple can still be best. Flacco and Sandman, Mikey and Julie, Lano and Woodley, whistlers, yodellers, percussionists, classical guitar, didgeridoos, flutes, theremins, gospel, hot latin swing and Croation folk all helped to create a unique live musical experience.
