As seasons shift in transformative change, new growth erupts in spectacular fashion to mark Spring Particles 2015. As clockwork as the seasons themselves, Particles releases another in a searing compilation series that features the very best of new and established talent. A sextet of tracks combines as artists scattered across three continents join forces to create vibrancy and elegance in keeping with seasonal signature. Opening proceedings, Bosnian producer, Youngen, provides a near ten-minute journey through deep evolving bass and smooth melodic flow as That Old Feeling evolves into an epic work of beauty, emotion and dynamism. Vocal cuts and driving percussion add to the impression, and with work already signed to Mistique and OLD SQL, it is not hard to hear Youngen's production talent. GMJ has made quite a name for himself on Particles. Both the Edge of Remembrance and Forgotten Wisdom EPs have helped shaped the Australian's recent musical history and it is now with Hidden Hearts that he continues to impress. A pulsating affair, rasping and grooved bass lines throb their way across a backdrop of chunky percussive beats and elegant melodic phrasing to glorious effect. Debutant, Artem Kalalb, from the Russian capital makes an assured contribution with Wandering Ghost. Evolving effortlessly throughout its seven minutes, Kalalb displays a skill for building tension through melodic sequences that rise in intensity, allied to reverb-soaked percussive wood block and clever sequencing. The result is an impressive entrance to the progressive house scene. Dutch producer, Mozaiek, has grown up exploring electronic music production. A pair of original works already featuring on the Winter and Fall compilations, a third can now be found on the Spring edition, courtesy of Valley. A strong techno offering, solid, rhythmic beat and wave like bass line rises and falls with metallic strains and reverb in abundance. A dark, hypnotic offering, the Valley is deep and inviting. Long-time performer but relative newcomer to the underground dance scene, Greg Tomaz's work for BCSA and Mistique Music has seen the Indian producer begin to actively experiment with music production. The Woods thus provides an innovative offering full of cleverly used field recordings combined with delicate bass and percussive groove, while luscious pads and gentle melodies complete an evocative offering. Amsterdam resident, Frank Maris, has been no Particles stranger over the past eighteen months. A regular on the Axon imprint, Eyes Filled With Joy for Fall Particles 2014 and a remix of Deepfunk in March 2015, have paved the way for A Lofty Spirit to present itself with smooth rhythmic poise and layers of melodic counterpoint to match.
