1978 comes this self-titled LP from a unit calling themselves Wham. Very little can be said about the group (though its not to be confused with the 80s pop outfit) but obviously a one-off disco/soul showcase, Wham only released this album which was led by the 12-inch "Superslick" b/w "Lovemaker". Like always with these obscure (and, dope) records there's some skilled personell behind the boards. The album plays out a fine composition of up-tempo disco with clear pop elements. And while you won't hear many country tunes, Wham was a Nashville based group, and one of the producers Nelson Larkin went from here to produce early records with the likes of Earl Thomas Conley and Johnny Rodriguez before becoming one of the in-house producers for contemporary Toby Keith. Larkin co-produced Wham with Ken Laxton, who obviuosly brought the funk and soul traditions to this record.
